Empowering Boys & Men for Safer, Stronger Communities

Maine Boys to Men envisions a world where all people are equally valued, respected, safe, and celebrated.

Reimagining Masculinity, Building Community

Empowering boys and men to embrace and reimagine their own masculinity and build safer, stronger communities.

We address the development of boys in the context of their relationships, socialization process, and cultural environments. We believe it is not the boys but rather the culture in which they live and grow that is in need of repair.

Addressing the Root Cause

Beginning at very early ages, boys are bombarded by narrow, confusing, and often destructive messages about masculinity. While holding boys and men to a higher degree of individual accountability, we also put an appropriate level of focus on the environment.

🏫

Schools & Education

Partnering with schools to deliver evidence-based prevention programs.

👨‍👩‍👦

Families & Community

Engaging families and community organizations as agents of positive change.

🤝

Peer Culture

Empowering youth to challenge harmful norms within their own peer groups.

Boys Are Hurting. We Can Help.

We know that every boy has the potential to become an emotionally healthy, respectful, non-violent man. We also see many social and cultural pressures pulling boys in exactly the opposite direction.

It is critically important that we examine the elements of our culture that cause boys and men to detach emotionally and engage in self-destructive and violent activities. When we all stand together as leaders, we can all play a role in the solution.

Voices of Impact

Students at Camden Rockport Middle School continue to benefit from our multi-year partnership with Maine Boys to Men. Middle school is such a critical time to guide boys toward a healthy version of masculinity and this is some of the most valuable learning they can do.

Matthew Smith (Former) Assistant Principal, Camden Rockport Middle School

This training made me realize how much of today's violence and trauma is rooted in boys not being allowed to be fully human. This might be some of the most important work of our time.
